After more than 3 years I’m giving Linux another try. I remembered it to be rather unintuitive (KDE that is) but, hey, it seems to have changed - a lot! After a day with Ubuntu (Gutsy Gibbon) everything is pretty much set up, no driver issues - even with a dual display setup.

The main reason for switching was my win xp installation that had some corrupted files and wouldn’t boot anymore.
Main reason for staying with Ubuntu will probably be the awesomeness of FireFox 2.0 for Linux. I was always a big fan of Opera for Windows and even bought my present PC pretty much just for that but FF for Linux is killing it. Super fast, feels lightweight (unlike the windows or osx version!) and has all the flexibility that comes with FF.
